Internet Explorer Upgrades

Some of you are beginning to see this message, We will be phasing out your browser soon. For details click here, concerning your Microsoft® Internet Explorer® version on your workstations and CAMS-ii servers.

It means that you must upgrade the Internet Explorer version 6 browser to Internet Explorer version 8, unless the computer already uses Internet Explorer version 7.

NOTE: To check your browser version, go to Help > About Internet Explorer on the Internet Explorer menu bar. If the computer uses Internet Explorer version 7, you do not need to upgrade your browser version to Internet Explorer version 8.

You have the following upgrade options depending on the version of the Microsoft® Windows® that is operating on the computer...

  1. If the computer uses Windows 2000, the Internet Explorer version cannot be upgraded. To upgrade to Internet Explorer version 8 requires an upgrade to Windows XP or later. Since Windows XP is no longer sold, the most likely scenario for systems of that age would be replacement because the hardware likely does not support Windows 7.
  2.

  3. Computers using Windows XP can upgrade to Internet Explorer version 8 if Windows XP Service Pack 2 has been installed on the computer. For those Windows XP systems that have service pack 2, you can go to http://www.microsoft.com/ie to download the Internet Explorer upgrade, or you can use the Windows Update feature.
  4.

  5. Systems with Windows Vista® or Windows® 7 already have Internet Explorer version 7 or 8, so they do not require an upgrade.

If the computer to be upgraded has a check scanner attached, please contact CBS Support for assistance via the CBS Issue Tracking System.

IMPORTANT: Any time that you upgrade your Internet Explorer version or change any Internet Explorer settings, the settings must conform to CBS' Internet Explorer configuration settings. The instructions are available in the CAMS-ii Help at CAMS-ii How-To's > Back Office > Configuring Internet Explorer for CAMS-ii Workstations.

Please address any questions concerning this posting to the CBS Issue Tracking System.
